This self-assessment tool is based on relevant provisions of the
Agvet Code and associated legislative instruments. It will help you work out whether
your product might need to be registered as a veterinary chemical product or to apply for an assessment to determine whether your product requires registration.
Whether your product is required to be registered can
only be authoritatively determined by applying the legislation. The questionnaire contains terms that are defined in the Agvet Code and some other technical terms.
If you are not sure of the meaning of any term used
in the questionnaire you should make your own inquiries before completing it. Please read our
general disclaimer as well.
This self-assessment tool is
only to be used for veterinary products, meaning a product that is designed to be used on, in or with animals, including pets. If your product is not meant for veterinary use, it might still require registration as an
agricultural
chemical product.
Every effort has been made to ensure the result of the self-assessment tool is accurate. However, the APVMA cannot and does not guarantee the accuracy of the answer, which will be determined
by your own responses to the questions. The tool does
not assess the name of your product. You should be aware that claims made (or implicit) in your product name may mean your product requires registration, regardless
of the chemical nature of the product.
The result you are provided with should be treated as guidance and assistance and should not be relied upon as a substitute for obtaining expert advice or an
APVMA
Item 25 assessment.
The questionnaire will end as soon as sufficient information has been presented. Not all questions will require an answer.
